For Luke Darnell, BBQ is now a full-time occupation. The pitmaster of Old Virginia Smoke, a past KCBS Chicken Team of the Year, has started a catering business and the timing has been good. With the COVID-19 pandemic, Luke’s competition schedule has been severely curtailed in 2020. We visit with him about those topics – plus tips on competition chicken – on Episode 74 of the Tailgate Guys BBQ Show Podcast.
KCBS contest organizer Michelle Higgins also joins us to talk about the challenges of running a contest in these unique times. She has a double coming up this weekend with at least 33 teams coming to Smokin’ on the Osage in Osceola, Missouri.
