We chat with an iconic BBQ veteran and a relative newcomer who’s making a big splash in the competition world on Episode 104 of the Tailgate Guys BBQ Show Podcast.
Many know Craig Verhage better as The BBQ Ninja for his bandana, sunglasses and flamethrower around all kinds of food. These days Craig, who’s been on Food Network’s Chopped Grillmasters and a featured chef at the James Beard House, is a brand ambassador for Royal Oak Charcoal. We visit with Craig about his busy year ahead and what it’s like hanging with Malcom Reed and a host of open-fire stars.
It’s also an honor to be the first BBQ Show to interview Bill Heyen of Illinois’ Triple H BBQ. Bill only has been competing for about five years, mostly on the St. Louis BBQ Society circuit, but he’s spreading his wings in the KCBS world in 2021. Fresh off a Grand Championship at Sip & Swine in Lawrenceville, Georgia, last weekend, Bill tells us more about his BBQ journey.
Co-hosts Lyndal and Steve also reflect on one year ago this week, when Covid 19 slapped everyone across the forehead and the world suddenly changed.
