On Episode 103 of the Tailgate Guys BBQ Show Podcast, we visit with Sterling Smith from Loot’n Booty BBQ about a variety of topics, including how to properly cook a tri-tip and why a guy who is highly decorated on the competition trail for 12 years just took a BBQ class seeking more knowledge.
Sterling, who’s based in Scottsdale, Arizona, is one of the high-energy people in food sport and a great ambassador of spreading BBQ knowledge world wide. He tells us about trying to turn down time during the pandemic in a positive, be it cooking more at home or putting the finishing touches on his new Jolly Roger Jalapeno Garlic Black Rub, which is now on the market. It’s always great conversation when Sterling joins us, so buckle up and enjoy!
We also check in with Gene Newkirk, from the Kickin’ it on Route 66 BBQ contest, one of the first big events in the Midwest in 2021. Gene tells us about some things he and the community leaders of St. Robert, Missouri, have learned about putting on a quality KCBS contest and his outlook for the March 26-27 event.
