Proving they are among the most-beloved – and in this case obviously under seeded – teams in BBQ, No. 15 Burnt Finger BBQ upset No. 2 seed Shake ‘n Bake BBQ as first-round voting concluded in the Bill Arnold Region of the Pitmasters Bracket Challenge. #BBQMarchMadness
Burnt Finger rallied Sunday morning to take the lead and post an 839-795 win over Shake ’n Bake in a classic battle of family themed teams from Missouri. Meanwhile, the closest battle of the opening round came in the Ray Lampe Region where No. 13 seed Smokin’ Hoggz BBQ of Massachusetts nipped “Cowboy” Kelly Wertz and 4 Legs Up BBQ 578-570.
We had 12,936 votes cast on the second half of the first round. We are overwhelmed that 23,739 votes were cast on the entire first round. Thanks to all for participating and having some fun in these challenging times.
