Tailgate Guys BBQ Podcast, Episode 198: Richard Fergola; Tyler Palagi, Evan Carter

Richard Fergola and KC Wolf

It’s been a crazy week in mid-America as Chiefs Kingdom celebrates its second Super Bowl championship in four years. On Episode 198 of the Tailgate Guys BBQ Podcast, we go to Kansas City to get a feel for the enthusiasm with Richard Fergola of Fergolicious BBQ and Proud Souls Barbecue & Provisions. Before he joined half a million red-clad friends at the victory parade, Richard discussed a variety of topics beyond football, including his two recent KCBS competition in Florida and some big doings at the new Proud Souls Barbecue Kansas City where they’re raffling off a $17,500 Yoder smoker – painted in a Chiefs theme – during the official store grand opening on March 4. Richard’s segment begins at about the 10:48 mark.

Then we go to the Pacific Northwest and find out about one of the most-interesting BBQ-themed restaurants in any part of the USA. Tyler Palagi and Evan Carter are part of the ownership group at Lady Jaye Restaurant and Butcher Shop in West Seattle, Washington. They have a no-boundaries take on cooking with the food coming off their 2,500-pound smoker named Cletus in a place described as Anthony Bourdain meets Clint Eastwood. Their passion for meat shines in a segment that begins at the 26:20 mark of the show.

Meanwhile, co-hosts Lyndal and Steve break down the Chiefs’ 38-35 victory over the Eagles and review their game-day food selections before looking ahead as the winter season slowly dissipates. C’mon spring!!!
